Classical Guitar Concert with Bowen Zheng

Enjoy an evening of classical guitar music with Bowen Zheng. This concert will feature a captivating exploration of various themes, ranging from the exquisite romance encapsulated in “The Moon Represents My Heart” sung most famously by the Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng (鄧麗君) to the poignant depiction of Ophelia’s tragic demise in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, as portrayed musically by Australian composer Phillip Houghton. Through the medium of a classical guitar concert, the program takes audiences on a profound journey that contemplates the tragedy of death, the workings of fate and the grand beauties of life.

About the Performer: Born in Shanghai China, classical guitarist Bowen Zheng is a unique musician with a diverse background in psychology and computer science. Having only begun studying music and classical guitar at a late age, he progressed quickly and his passionate hard work has allowed him to develop all aspects of of serious musicianship. He performs actively in the Baltimore Maryland area in both solo and chamber concerts as well as outreach performances. Bowen received a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the Peabody Institute, where he continues his studies for a Master’s degree under the tutelage of Dr. Thomas Viloteau.
