Aavarthanam: Indian Classical Music with Sanjeev Palamand

Seating is limited. Registration is recommended. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Enjoy an afternoon performance of Indian classical music. This concert will showcase a musical meeting between the mridangam, a traditional Indian percussion instrument, and the Indian flute. The music will be performed in traditional Indian classical Carnatic format. The set will mostly include traditional Indian compositions tuned to ragas as well as some original compositions.

Sanjeev Palamand is a leading musician in the diaspora. He is a mridangam artist, versatile percussionist and a composer. Trained and rooted in the Carnatic classical music tradition of South India, Sanjeev is known for his creative and thought provoking playing of the mridangam. His original music encompasses complex rhythmic patterns and infuses sounds from varied genres, evoking deep emotions within the listener.

Tejasvi Chakravarthy is one of the most sought-after flautists in the Bay Area music scene. His performances have made him a cherished collaborator among musicians and a regular presence in performances throughout the Pacific Northwest, and various cities across the USA and Canada. In addition to flute, Tejasvi’s thirst for exploring various instruments has helped him learn a bit about the art of drumming and honing his skills on the saxophone.
