AI and Emerging Technologies: Friend and Foe

Seating is limited. Registration is recommended. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Join us for a live demonstration of emerging technologies followed by a community conversation on artificial intelligence (AI), learning, libraries and the future with Dr. Anthony Chow, Professor and Director of the San Jose State University iSchool. Dr. Chow will return to the Mountain View Public Library to discuss how AI has evolved in the past year and demonstrate how the SJSU iSchool is using AI and emerging technologies. Also, hear from other community members on how they see AI and emerging technologies in their lives. What impacts are they already having on higher education? How will they change the workforce demands in the future? What are the primary pro's and con's? How do we best use them while protecting ourselves?

Dr. Anthony Chow is the Director and a full professor at the School of Information at San Jose State University and has been working in the LIS field for the past 25 years. His areas of expertise include technology integration, leadership and management, information seeking behavior, and analytics and informatics. As the head of the largest MLIS program in the world, an academic researcher, and expert in information science, Dr. Chow is grappling with the current and future impact of AI and other emerging technologies in all aspects of society.
