Join the authors of End of Men and Manflu for a chat about their dystopian novels and their visions of future fictional worlds where women are in charge and males are facing possible extinction.

The authors will talk about themes explored in their books such as violence, climate change, and changes to the workforce. They will also discuss their writing processes and what it's been like releasing their debut novels during a pandemic. Questions from the audience will be welcome.

Simone de Muñoz writes dystopian, or perhaps utopian, fiction, depending on your perspective, where women drive the story and sometimes even run the world. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in economics from MIT, which she uses in her day job as a data analyst at a Mountain View nonprofit. She lives with her patient husband, their two young sons, and a grumpy dog named Fish. Manflu is her debut novel. Suzanne Strobel writes book club fiction designed to spark meaningful conversations and positive social change. End of Men is her debut novel. Suzanne earned her Bachelor's in Creative Writing at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her writing career has run the gamut from greeting cards and gift books to advertising campaigns and travel articles. Shira Lee is a writer, speaker, teacher, and healthcare expert. She is currently the General Manager of Behavioral Health at Eden Health, a provider of integrated primary and mental healthcare. Shira recently joined Eden Health from Omada Health, where she created new product lines for diabetes, hypertension, anxiety and depression, and opened new revenue and reimbursement opportunities through health insurance companies and the federal government.  She lives in Colorado, but has lived and worked around the US, Europe and Africa. Shira's published writing includes creative nonfiction, as well as scientific publications in mental health, bioengineering, and even (long story) oceanography. Shira serves as a mentor and guest lecturer for graduate students at the UC Berkeley's schools of business and of public health.
