Caroline Cocciardi's decades-long research on Leonardo da Vinci has led to new discoveries. Overlooked for centuries, yet visual to the naked eye, Cocciardi detected that the minute interlocking embroidered knot pattern on Mona Lisa’s dress deviated from the decorative embroidery of the day.

Today, Caroline’s research brings us another undiscovered Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece known as, Sala Delle Asse, located on the first floor of the Sforza Castle in Milan, Italy. Why undiscovered? It has remained unattended for the last 500 years and following a botched-up restoration in the early 1900’s, has been reduced to a blur of color. Caroline will unveil her digitally restored Leonardo masterpiece. We are some of the first to see it.

Caroline Cocciardi has lectured for many institutions and museums about Leonardo da Vinci’s knot art as well as Google Talks and a recent podcast with the “Kindness Guy” about the Mona Lisa.

Caroline Cocciardi, writer and filmmaker, began an independent study on Leonardo da Vinci, while living in Rome. Her 20-year research led to a da Vinci discovery. Her newly released art book, “Leonardo’s Knots” will introduce you to a facet of the Renaissance painter that was overlooked for centuries yet was present in his artworks: his passion for intertwining knots.
